Stop today

Psalm 32:3-4, “When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.”

Some of you may know the story of King David and his adulterous affair with Bathsheba and the death of her husband. It doesn’t really matter though what David did or did not do, what matters is the difficulty he faced in life until he decided to  repent of his  sins before God. Because God knew only if David confessed of his sins and walked in His way could God use him, God did not let up on David.

I spoke with a man a few weeks ago who is living in a nightmare. Because he does not want to come clean and confess his behavior, he is being eaten up inside with sickness. His body aches and his stomach is constantly sick. He cannot sleep and depression has nearly overtaken him. The simple solution is to confess of his sins before God, make a complete 180 degree turn, and stop doing what he’s doing.

It is important to realize that God loves us enough to put His heavy hand on us until we “own up” to what our lifestyle is and how it influences those around us. God hates sin. It pains Him when we are living in sin and refusing to come forward and change. Some of you, like King David, are silent. You are ignoring God; ignoring what is right and what is wrong; justifying what you are doing with some ridiculous argument.

If you are in the middle of something you know is wrong, stop today. Go to God in prayer. Make it right. And do not go back to your former ways. God’s way is better. His plans for your life cannot be fulfilled until you clean up the mess in your own life. Like David, God has His eye on you. Don’t make Him wait any longer.
