Deuteronomy 7:1-2, “When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations—the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, seven nations larger and stronger than you— 2 and when the Lord your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy.”
In this scripture, God has instructed the Israelite’s to destroy their enemies totally. No excuses. No justification. No negotiation. He tells them to show their enemies no mercy.
There are some things in your life that God is telling you to deal with. I’m not talking about other people, I’m talking about the enemies within you attacking your character: addictions, negative thoughts, anger management issues, rudeness, judgmentalness, and a faithless attitude. We give one excuse after another to Him as to why we can’t destroy the bad habit or the lack of integrity or the misplaced emotion. God wants us to throw it away, be done with it, destroy it, and move on to what He has promised us.
What in your life is holding you back? Address the things in your life you know God wants out of you today. Make up your mind you are going to change, and then go about making it happen. Just as He helped the Israelite’s defeat and destroy their enemies, so will He help you remove those behaviors in your life which are causing you to hurt others and yourself. Start living the life God has planned for you.
