Keep on keeping on!

Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Today, I do not know what your “them” is…

It could be health issues; relationships which are breaking your heart; or someone’s stupid choices which are impacting you. I do not know…only you do. But I want to encourage you.

Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you.”

I remember a time when I faced some horrific news. As is normal, I took a deep breath, wondering why such had to happen. Then, this verse resonated in my mind. Not stoically but with great comfort as if God were saying, “Remember…” And even though the news was still real and painful, I knew I did not have to be terrified because God was with me. He is also with you.

David writes in Psalm 37:25, “I have been young and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken Or his descendants begging bread.”

Whatever is bringing you anxiety today, whatever is bringing your heart pain, give it to God. He is right beside you and will never leave you or forsake you.

There was an elderly gentleman in our church who is no longer living on earth but whenever he was going through a rough time, he’d reach his hand back and pat himself on the shoulder. He’d whisper as a reminder, “Don’t forget WHO wins! Keep on keeping on.”

It was actually something he’d learned from his grandmother. Not too long ago I ran into his grandson. The family is going through a difficult season. We talked for awhile and he concluded with a pat on the his shoulder and in a gentle voice, “Don’t forget WHO wins! Keep on keeping on!”

The LORD your God goes with you.”
