Are you an Ambassador for Christ?

What is ministry? If you define it as, “What you do, preacher…” your definition is not entirely correct. What I do is how I serve God; but how do you serve God?

Ministry comes from the Greek word diakonos meaning “to serve.” Websters gives several definitions but the one I like the best is “a person or thing through which something is accomplished.” So, my question to you is: What is God accomplishing through you?

We minister in several ways:

1) Through Worship

Psalm 29:2 says, “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.”

Psalm 95:6, “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!”

Psalm 99:5, “Exalt the Lord our God; worship at His footstool! Holy is He!”

Give God the praise and honor and glory He is due. Show Him the reverence the King of kings deserves. Be grateful to Him for all that surrounds you. Shout His name in celebration of His Lordship.

2) Through Service

Matthew 23:11, “The greatest among you will be your servant.”

Philippians 2:1-4, “Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

Acts 20:35, “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

Jesus came not to be served but to serve; He asks that we do the same.

3) Through witnessing

John 15:16, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”

Matthew 28:19-20, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.””

Daniel 12:3, “Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.”

We are called to spread the word of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Think today about your ministry. How are you serving God and others? How are you praising His name? How are you spreading His word. Write down your plan of ministry. Be an ambassador for Christ.
