I’m reminded of a story from Corrie ten Boom’s book The Hiding Place. As many of you know, Corrie ten Boom was a Dutch Christian who with her father and other family members, helped  many Jews escape the Nazi Holocaust during World War II. She and her family were imprisoned for their assistance. Her story is told in her book. Upon her release, which she later learned was a clerical error, Corrie ten Boom stated, “God does not have problems, only plans.”

Jeremiah 29:11, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'”

Life can seem so disjointed at times, non-directional, chaotic. We can find ourselves in situations where we do not have an answer nor do we see any possible solution. The reality of God is, there is no pit so deep that God is not able to reach down and pull us out. We may have gotten ourselves into the mess, but through God, we’ll find the way out of the mess. At other times, the situation we find ourselves in is not of our own doing but someone else’s or events out of our control; but, God is in control and will see us through to the other side.

Today, my schedule is filled with activities for work and for home. Just looking at my calendar seems overwhelming. It is not unusual. A lot of time and effort goes into scheduling my day. I don’t live on a whim. I didn’t get out of bed and just “wing it.” No, I have meetings and places to be. I have people who depend upon me to do certain things and be certain places.  I’m sure you are the same. Whether you are retired or working or in school, today you have somewhere to go and something to do, and you planned for it ahead of time.

God has plans for you and for me. He knows the plans for us. Before you were ever formed, God thought about you. He knew you before you were a glint in your parents’ eyes. You are no accident. You are a well-thought-out creation of God.

John 10:10 says, “…I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

His plans for you began before you were ever formed that you may have an abundant life. Your problems, your struggles, your trials, your issues could be the very things God will use to implement His intentions in your life. Even now He is orchestrating events we cannot imagine in order to do amazing things. The answer comes in trusting in Him and relying upon Him, not upon ourselves.
