What are you wearing today?

Isaiah 61:3, “and provide for those who grieve in Zion– to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.”

Grief. Despair. Loneliness. Mourning. Isolation. Depression. Defeat.

Some of you may be wearing these words like wet garments and the weight of it all makes it difficult to maneuver through your day. Life circumstances have placed you in a season of sorrow. I often compare it to walking in a snow storm. The fog and the thickness of the air makes it impossible to see as you lift your legs, step after step, trying to get out of the cold and the dark.

The enemy has dressed you in despondency. He wants us to believe it is over; that life can never be good again; that we are doomed.

But God tells us something different. He wants to clothe us in a spirit of praise. He wants to replace those heavy words.

Hope. Joy. Grace. Mercy. Friendship. Comfort. Love. Victory.

No matter the situation you are facing, God feels the pain of your heart and understands the depth of your suffering. He will replace “the ashes with a crown of beauty; the mourning with the oil of joy; and the spirit of despair with a garment of praise.”

Allow God to dress your spirit today. Display His splendor. Shake off the grip of Satan and know the glory of the King of kings and Lord of lords.
